Does anyone here use Kazaa (SP?)??
I had a list of about 80 hard to find 80's songs that a buddy of mine was gonna download for me, and he was using Kazaa, and he said there was this loud annoying buzz/alarm type thing about every 10 seconds, so he didn't put them onto cd for me. He didn't know what was going on, but it was pretty much every song. Is anyone familiar with this? Also, is there anywhere to download free hard to find stuff that doesn't have strings attached? Even if I had to pay like $1 a song, I would for the stuff I'm looking for. The problem is most of the stuff never made it to cd, and is also harder than hell to find on tape even.
    Stuff like:
    The Flirts
    GTR
    Limahl
    DeBarge
    Alphaville
    Frida
    The Whispers
    ....you get the picture.
    Any help would be phenominal.

I have the GTR on tape, if you want it you can have it.

Go to www.winmx.com . I have not liked Kazaa at all and actually never find shit there. All of my OTR downloads are done at winmx and I find TONS there.

Thanks Carl! Hell yeah, I'll take that tape. That's the one with "When the Heart Rules the mind" and "The Hunter" on it right??
Yeah, I guess my buddy found just about everything on Kazaa, but when he went to play them after he downloaded them, there was some high pitched alarm thing (is what he said), about every 10 seconds. Is there any problem like that with the one you use?
    Raggz, what do you use?

Nah, no noise from WinMX. Use it everyday and night, and have thousands of files from there, and no noise on any of them...other than people who don't know how to convert properly and the natural poor sound of dealing with radio shows from the 30's-50's!!!

Yes, that is the tape. I'll get it to you soon.

Can't say this enough dude but get that Kazzaa the hell off our drive as quickly as you can!
I used it briefly a couple of years back and am still having problems from the crap that it sneakily installs and hides on your system.

I can't wait til I finish all the recording projects I have on this computer and do a complete blanking and re-installing.
All the tracks are so numerous and large that backing them up and replacing them causes too many problems.

Like Carl said, WinMX is pretty cool. Probably the widest range of files. But people can be a little mean with bandwidth, some insist on trading too. Which is a pain for those with no desire to sit in front of a monitor all day haha

EDonkey or EMule often gives fast downloads but the range of files isn't as cool as WinMX

<font size="3" face="Arial">Yeah, once I find the time to get back to it. Unfortunately I have lost contact with the main guy I was talking to. I could bug Spice about him, but he never responded to my last email, so either he got tired of my communications, or he just vanished. I really need to bug her to find out if he is O.K. though. So hey, Spice, how is Alan doing?

Try Soulseek, it's a cool program with lots and lots of hard-to-find albums. Very easy to use, and it has a "wish list" feature, where you can type a band or song name and the program will search for it until it finds it. Where do you find Soulseek? Soulseek Webpage

OR if you still wanna use Kazaa, use the un-authorized Lite version that has no spyware and more features. Kazaa Lite Webpage

O.K., only 3 posts but Kris Kay just made THE post of the year!!! I just loaded up that Soul program, and am finding a TON of stuff and am downloading at speeds never reached before on any other site! For one thing, I have never seen a site pull up files anywhere near as fast as this Soulseek site does! Brilliant site, and a brilliant post!!! The beers on me!!!
